Make Me An Instrument of Your Peace

This past Saturday, October 23rd, 95 women–married, single, our Sisters and Associates- from various parts of Wisconsin came to our Motherhouse in Milwaukee (St. Jospeh Center) for a Women’s Spirituality Morning of Reflection. The theme of the morning was “Make Me An Instrument of Your Peace.”  The presentations focused on the life of Francis of Assisi and Clare of Assisi and interwined reflections on “envy” as an obstacle to inner peace and the role of the “shadow” in our lives. Quiet time for reflection and small and large sharing took place.  The overall invitation of the morning was found in our Franciscan Rule: to be always mindful that the Spirit of God is at work within us. This is true for all of us:  the Spirit of God at work within us is our greatest treasure.   However we name this Presence in our lives, the Spirit of God is with us through the various seasons of our lives.   Are there ways we can slow down our days so as to notice this Spirit of God at work within us?  Awareness of God’s Spirit within us, helps us to look and find the good within ourselves and to seek the good in others. Let us pause this day to be grateful for who we are and the Spirit’s presence in our everyday lives and in one another.   Blessings and peace this day.
