Last year I read an article about vacation spots in the United States that purposely are not putting in WI-FI or similar systems that allow checking of e-mail, etc. They are in remote areas where cell phones cannot be used. The article stated that people are looking for places to be away from having to be “on” and readily accessible. The vacation places have a general number that guests can leave for emergencies. I found the article fascinating given others studies that state our bodies, minds and spirits need time to be rejuvenated. Adding a spiritual dimension–time to be in touch with our createdness, God, divine energy. Our culture in the United States is fairly driven and vacations for some are complex and not very rejuvenating
In the Gospel of Mark ( 6:30-34) ) from the Christian scriptures Jesus seeks to be away from the crowds to be rejuvenated. Let’s go away to a deserted place Jesus tells his apostles. The crowds follow and Jesus ends up talking with them (perhaps a kind of emergency situation). Jesus nevertheless saw the need to be in touch with inner wisdom and to be away to be rejuvenated.
Summer stereotypically brings opportunity for vacations and rejuvenation. What kind of time away do you seek? How much does technology play in your being “away”? In what way do you seek rejuvenation? Where is your “deserted place” where you find rejuvenation? Can we leave the technology and “crowds” behind to truly be rejuvenated and more in touch with our Divine Energy, Creator Wisdom and our inner beings.
Our invitation is to embrace rejuvenation.
Blessings and peace
