Embracing Resolute Determination

The sound of thunder and flashes of lightning continued into the early hours of morning.    A stalled system, I thought, as the storm took over sleep.  A rare occurrence?  Three days later the same rhythm.  Lightening, thunder and heavy rain into the early morning hours.   Another stalled system?

Oh, how the wonders of nature mirror other aspects of our lives!  How often do we set out resolutely on our path of life, only to be stalled by inner or outer systems.  Only a temporary stall?  We hope to again proceed resolutely.   Yet, there is a message to be found.  One place is the Christian scriptures.  Jesus   (Luke 9:51-62) knows about stalled systems and setting out resolutely.

Jesus “resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem.”  He asked others to go before him.  Yet, he was not welcomed.  His faithful companions wanted to “call down fire from heaven to consume them.”  No!  Jesus said.   Look forward.  Do not be derailed by the bumps of life and by stalled people or systems.   Set out with resolute determination in spite of stalled systems.

Yes, how often do we set out resolutely determined on our path, only to meet a stalled system–a person, an institution, or parts of ourselves that are equally resolute to take away our freedom.   Yet no one can take away our freedom to love and to be for others.

Stalled systems?  Yes, they abound!  Call down fire from heaven to consume them?  No!  Live out of freedom of the divine within?  Yes.  Love your neighbor as you would want to be treated.  Yes!   Do you want to be treated with respect?  Treat others with respect.    Do you want others to understand your situation in life?  Listen attentively to the heart of another.  Sooner or later the stalled systems of nature move out.  Sooner or later love wins out over the stalled systems of our lives as we journey with resolute determination.

Our invitation is to embrace resolute determination.

Blessings and peace
